Our founder, Dr. Chris MacKnight, converted a house on South 56th Street that is now more than 100 years old. His family lived upstairs; patients were seen below.
Dr. Tom Tetrick earns his DDS at UNMC and begins at Pine Ridge Dental as a founding associate the same year.
Dr. MacKnight died in May 2014. The next year our dentists started the MacK Memorial Golf Tournament, a fundraiser in his honor.
Dr. Kevin Vakilzadian, born and raised in Lincoln, joins the practice, with a strong focus on restorative care and patient education.

UNMC College of Dentistry, 1989
Grew up on a small farm outside West Omaha with four brothers. Millard High School, a B.S. in Biology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, then his DDS in 1989, the same year he began at Pine Ridge Dental. Advanced training in dental implants and clear aligner orthodontics, with more than 600 implants placed.

UNMC College of Dentistry, 1999
Lincoln Southeast High School, a B.S. in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M in 1995, then his DDS in 1999. He has taught UNMC dental students in CAD/CAM lab training, and served on the board of Friendship Home, including a term as board president.

UNMC College of Dentistry
Born and raised in Lincoln. Lincoln Southwest High School, a B.S. in Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, then his DDS at UNMC. He joined Pine Ridge Dental in 2021, with a strong focus on patient education.

Grew up in Lincoln: Blessed Sacrament, then Pius X High School, a B.S. in Biological Systems Engineering at UNL and her DDS at UNMC. After several years in general practice in Maryland she came home with her husband, Brian, and their son, Noah.

Originally from Kearney, Nebraska. He came to Lincoln for Nebraska Wesleyan University, a B.S. in Biology in 2016, then his DDS at UNMC in 2021. Modern dentistry with a compassionate approach, and a focus on comfort and long-term oral health.

Whichever suits your day. Both offices offer the same care and share one number, (402) 423-1100. Edgewood, at 5140 S. 56th Street, is open Monday to Thursday 7 am to 6 pm and Friday 7 am to 1 pm. Wilderness Ridge, at 8545 Executive Woods Dr., Ste. 2, is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 7 am to 3 pm, Tuesday 7 am to 2 pm and Friday 7 am to 1 pm. Please call to confirm before you visit.
We are PPO providers with 18 major insurance companies, including Ameritas, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Delta Dental, Aetna and MetLife, and we accept many other PPO plans. We file all claims on your behalf, in network and out of network. Please note that we do not accept Medicaid.
Patients without insurance may qualify for savings: a 10% senior citizen discount, 5% off for cash or check payments, and 20% savings through our On Call Club. We also offer CareCredit, and take HSA and FSA cards, cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
With CEREC, a permanent all-ceramic crown is designed, milled and placed in a single visit, usually in under two hours. There are no messy impressions, no temporary crown and no second appointment, and it is available at both offices.
Three steps. A CBCT 3D scan evaluates your bone, nerves and surrounding anatomy for precise planning. A titanium post is placed in the jawbone as a stable foundation. Then a custom crown, bridge or denture is attached. Dr. Tom Tetrick has placed more than 600 implants, and complex cases are coordinated with a trusted local specialty office.
Yes. We provide airway evaluations for adults and children, and custom oral appliances for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, a comfortable, non-invasive alternative to CPAP. We work with your sleep physician when needed.
XEOMIN relaxes overactive jaw muscles that can cause jaw pain, headaches, facial tension, clenching and grinding, and excess wear on teeth. Treatment is quick and minimally invasive, with little to no downtime, and results typically last three to four months.
Tell the team when you call. Nitrous oxide is available to help anxious patients relax, and treatment such as root canals uses gentle technique and modern anesthesia, so most patients feel little to no discomfort.
